This is that time of year when everyone is making their New Year’s resolutions with the hopes they stick to them. One of the best ways to help keep those goals is to make a visual representation that reminds you of your intention & helps keep you focused.
One thing we do that makes the New Year planning a bit more special than other times of year, is a tradition of making mandalas for our intentions. Our family has been making mandalas for the new year for about 5 years. There are no rules – they can be abstract or representational, painted or colored penciled – whatever feels best to you.
The idea is that we spend some time focusing on our positive intentions and sending those thoughts out into the universe. The mandala – a traditional circular spiritual symbol – can then be hung up and remind us of our intentions all year long. Our family places them on our vision boards, so they become a personal piece of art alongside many if our words and images we’ve cut out to inspire us.

In the meantime, have a happy & prosperous new year & I look forward to all 2013 has to bring!
