To say the beginning of 2017 has been a little tumultuous, might be an understatement. 🌊 No matter where you find yourself in the social-political spectrum, things are feeling a little off-kilter. So I’ve been doing less online participation and more old school activities, just to give myself some peace. Because really, when you look around you…right here, right now…we can be incredibly grateful for so much. And that’s truly all we have, isn’t it? This moment, and what we will make of the next.
To keep me leaning toward love and away from fear, I’ve been nestling up with this little gem, “The Universe Has Your Back,” by Gabrielle Bernstein. To be honest, I’ve been reading this since September, but I haven’t stopped. It has become part of my daily routine and I’m loving it. L-O-V-I-N-G I-T. ❤️ I take a paragraph, a page, a chapter or a snippet every day and just stay open to the lessons the universe has in store for me that day. I am never disappointed.
Prayer. Still feels new to me. 50K to Pray has been a Facebook Live/Youtube mashup of 21 Days of Prayer for your Business led by Monique McLean, a leader in my company. This series just ended, but because it was recorded in both the Facebook Group and on YouTube, it is available to you forever. And ever. And I’ll be revisiting it again and again. I actually participated for the first time last year, but this year I was even more open to the lessons. Last year, I didn’t think of myself as a “prayer kind of person,” and I was not raised in church so wasn’t sure if I could relate, but Monique has a way that makes you feel totally connected to the material, and I love how much I learn about the Bible, as well as myself. And this is awesome for any business, she keeps it generic so it can benefit everyone.
If you’re looking for a bit of ‘fantastical’ reading, The Wildwood Chronicles by Colin Meloy & Carson Ellis was on my Christmas list this year and has been a truly fun escape. Even with two young children I have found little moments here and there to curl up with some Espresso Yourself tea (a fave of mine from David‘s Organic Tea line) and delve into a whimsical story I have a hard time putting down. Think Labyrinth meets Lord of the Rings meets Alice in Wonderland. And that’s just Book one! 🦊 I happened upon this book through the illustrator, Carson Ellis, whose children’s books I’m slightly obsessed with.
Two of my goals in 2017 include serious physical strength & control – a headstand 🤸♀️and rock climbing, so I have started a video series from GMB Fitness which is hard to describe, but basically feels like it is creating the strongest foundation for any type of movement and athletic activity I ever want to do. I have started with their 7 week Elements course which is deceptively simple and only takes about 20mins/day, but I am astounded at the changes I already notice in my strength, balance and agility. I cannot wait to get further into their programs…but trying to take it one step at a time to build on it properly.
Not only has the month been a little stressful, but I have also been working on my intentions for 2017 and beyond. I revisit my goals and visions fairly often, but this month I am relying on Clarity Essential Oil Blend 🌱 to help me focus and dig deep into what I want…and be open to inner guidance. Clarity includes Basil, Rosemary, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang and Jasmine, among others…and I love to simply put a drop in my hands and inhale. I am also diffusing it occasionally too as it creates a fresh and uplifting atmosphere. Want your own, learn more here, or get started with me here.
These five (six…did you catch the tea? ☕️) have been sustaining me through this January, and now just into February. It hasn’t been too cold and it’s been just the right amount of busy for a new year. So far so good, 2017. As long as one stays off the Internet. 😉
